Another review!!

The last session saw very few members....and due to this most of us got to talk on topics. The topics were good ,and some were really good. Most people got more time to talk on their topics and grilling was pretty good, with most members getting more than one question.

The main event was pretty good, kochu rajesh came up with it.Mash also came at around 5 and they together judged the main event.Main event il "katrina came, katrina saw and katrina aanjadichu" but fortunately there was no damage done.Uni-y resisted katrina with all its vigour :)It also saw rakesh saying very interesting "literature" sentences that most people including the judges did not seem to understand.kudos to rakesh!!

Overall,a pretty good session...and kudos to rakesh for a good moderating job!

Today's Session Ver 2.0

I wasn't that satisfied with the way the session went on today. There were crests and troughs ( excuse me for the bad selection of words). Coming to think about the high points, i would say the session today was very lively with excellent participation from all members. Each and every speaker was made to explain each point in his/her speech. I would really like to appreciate the members who kept a close watch on what the speakers were saying and today's session was really really good due to that. Because all listened carefully and asked good questions, the speakers had a tough time with many a speaker retracting his/her stand and that was particularly good to see when Rajesh and Niranjan were speaking. Am not saying that there speeches were bad, but then i personally felt that they could have done a lot lot better than the show put up by them.

Today Deepa did a fine job as a moderator, even though at times she asked way too many questions! She managed the session well, and i was surprised the ease with which she filled those shoes(even though she HAD to be reminded that SHE IS GOD!). The choice of speakers was a good mix of newbies and experienced people. The start was good with Rakesh giving a good example of how marriage is not an unhappy experience. Then came Niranjan explaining about the ill effects of meaningful forwards having lost their meaning now. All speeches were good, but i feel Rajesh lied about his newspaper reading habit(just my personal opinion). Then Madhuri spoke about the political scenario in Kerala, and was pretty convincing to some extent; but the way she answered the questions was not that satisfactory. But there's always scope for improvement. Ancy failed to impress all of us once again, due to her policy of stepping into too many boats at a time(not just 2).

Nebu's intro was very nice with the members grilling him to the maximum and i did see a continuation of the grilling that we saw last week. He sure has promise and i hope he would come in coming weeks, unlike some members who DISAPPEARED after their intro's in the previous weeks(Ann, Rex, Mariam..........). Let's hope the trend of having many intro's and fewer people actually turning up is curtailed with this intro!

Varun gave an excellent speech and really showed that he possesses the mettle and strength of a good speaker. He did quote fine examples and personally i didn't find any fault with the way he referred to Gandhiji as a conspirator, in the positive sense of course. He answered the questions very well and if i am allowed to say "Made sense of himself" after a very long time. Now for the cream of the day- JK's YMCA camp report. The presentation was hilarious with great amount of laughter(which is pretty much usual in JK's speeches). The pathetic conditions that he had to undergo( "Secretary was on my lap, and i was on his") and the extremely good ENTERTAINMENT that he had seen( u know wat i mean, don't u??) was all so good to hear! JK man your the best when it comes to making all of us laugh!

I may not be able to turn up in the coming sessions due to TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES(read exams!). So make sure that who all comes, he should get the best out of UNIY and may UNIY thrive and attain more altitude in the coming weeks!

ALL NEW MEMBERS PLEASE DO READ

Its been some time.. i do check the blog every now and then and yesterday i happened to see mash's post in which he mentioned abt the level of seriousness in the sessions... He has made a very true point... Cross talking is at an all time high i guess..(and i am gulity as charged..!)

See cross talkin or even crackin jokes between speeches is fine as long as you are listening... at least tht's what i've felt... The question answer session is also as lively as ever... but the sad fact is that only a handful of people are asking the questions... i see a very big chunk of people who have yet to start firing questions... 10 people being attentive and 20 others listening muted spoils the entire idea of the table topic session....

all the new members... please take a note of how the senior members like anuroop conduct themselves during the session.. YES THEY'LL TALK IN BETWEEN... BUT THEY ARE SHARP AND ATTENTIVE... and they'll always have their hands up after a speech... with really good questions..
and as for grilling.... the current bunch is extremely lucky for they've not been grilled half as we were( no offence guys!)... DO NOT RESTRICT THE GRILLING TO INTROS... GRILL EVERY SINGLE SPEECH... let the speakers fend for themselves... and there should be no bias there...
i have been caught up with a lot of things these days.. but god knows i miss the sessions... i really miss em...
and one more thing... the moderator is GOD... you don't talk back... if u do.. u get thrown out...
see such little things go a long way... once the session is over everything is chilled out...
but when inside the session.. take it a little seriously...
uni-y is a cathredal( moderator is the pope!) all right.. but fun and mirth come along with the prayer service...
take care..
