This Onam.......at Uni Y!
9th sept 2006The functions were 2 start at 11:00 a.m...but as they say..'CREATIVE PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS LATE'. The 'cream' of thiruvananthapuram were late & v started the funtion as late as 11:45. Our president wanted 2 make a long speech(..& thank god..he couldn't!). Then was the turn of our Secretary who didn't want 2 make a long speech but succeeded in making us impatient 2 start another event..ONATHALLE..! Then there was this small event where we all shared a moment 2 explain what 'onam' meant 2 us. Some veteran membres even came up 2 get 'theppified'! V even saw the 'downfall' of a member's 'maanam' in the form of a 'mundu'. Then there was his 'beautiful' song sung by some veteran memebers of uni y! The 'song' was written by our secretary 2 'maveli-kkara' on account of onam! . Many other members sang 'humanly bearable' songs.
Next was the time 2 savor onam...THE SADYA...! Here 1 could see the active participation of one & all...(no..don't get me wrong!). Every1 here was very eager 2 serve themselves with chips,upperi & payasam (though there was a scandal about a payasam having chemical X which contributed 2 it's 'kick factor'). The sadya was very good! 'Madura curry' was the most in demand...by our 'asthana maveli'..!! The sadya 'competion' was called of due 2 the Secretary's health reasons. After the sadya some veteran'dhoti-jubba' members had difficulty in getting up. Due 2 unavailability of cranes v had 2 manage with some 'huge' members with low-waist pants 2 help them up.
The next event was 'Truth & Dare'. The 'truth' part was as usual 'theppifying' session. But the 'dares' were good. Our 'insane' member put up a good show of his insaneness. The tribal dance by the Secretary & a new member was very inspirational! The 'delicious' sadya-mix drink was a special treat 4 our 'huge' member. the coffee power was yet another treat that helps increasing punctuality 2 come 2 uni y! The 'bestest' dare was when i had 2 reason some 'purely educational sites' 2 my imaginery mother!Then there was this 'musical chair' where v could witness how simplicity can win over 'seeming' champions. The Sundarikk Pott Todu was complete by 5:30 p.m. & v all parted after an adventorous day!
This day...unlike any....was the most eventful day in uni y! This helped many new members..including me 2 come 2 know each other. Such celebrations in it's true sense helps tighten the bonds b/w the Uni Y Family! Let's hope that as long as v r here v do contribute 2 it's strength & after v leave the the 'fragrance' of this beautiful family stays with us!
